The Perfect Blend of Skill And Imagination
Creating luxury, quality furniture requires not only skill, but also an
imagination that goes beyond the ordinary. From framing of the furniture to the
upholstery, there is a set process that is followed. However, every piece of
Chester’s furniture is different, and has its own story.
At Chester’s, we manufacture furniture with a perfect blend of skill and
imagination. We combine comfort and sophistication to produce timeless
masterpieces.
Our journey began in 1986, and we shortly established a reputation across
Europe for processing, finishing, and exporting finished leather. After
mastering these skills, and gaining a deep understanding of leather, we wanted
to recreate true leather furniture and the classic Chesterfields. The fine
craft of the Chesterfields was rediscovered, by combining our skills and
imagination, and taking into account the comfort, elegance, and nostalgia part
of a Chesterfield.
In India, we mastered the art of manufacturing a Chesterfield by 1994.
This was great news for the connoisseurs of fine leather seating, who we were
supplying our products by the year 2000. Inspired by the Chesterfield sofas,
which contain many layers, have finely crafted frameworks, and exquisite
leather upholstery that ages gracefully, we began producing luxury
furniture in Bangalore.
Originally upholstered in the famous vegetable tanned ‘French Mouton
Fauve Lambskins’, hand-dyed, and handcrafted to perfection, our sofas maintain
the highest standards of quality. The Chesterfield is not just a piece of
furniture, but a piece of history, one we have recreated to our greatest
abilities.
Our authentic handcrafted Chesterfields have the heart and soul of the
leather we use. Since we produce our own finished leather through an arduous
time-tested process, from hides which are carefully sourced from Central and
Eastern Europe, we provide only perfection in our Chesterfield seating.
The hides are processed using the latest technology and environmentally
safe chemicals, along with azo-free dyestuffs. To make authentic furniture in
Bangalore, we use authentic leather that bears marks of its natural origin.
These marks include healed scars, growth marks, pigmentation, hair pore
structure, and areas of differing fibre density. Leather is a naturally warm
product that breathes and has individual characteristics. This makes each and
every hide unique.
The tanners are highly trained. To transform a salted hide into finished
leather for use In a Chester’s seat takes about three weeks. The making of a
Chester’s piece of furniture involves four main processes: Framing, Webbing,
Padding, and Upholstery. The framing is the foundation of the Chester’s
masterpiece, which prevents the onslaught of time having an effect on the
furniture. The webbing bears the maximum load, and ensures a firm support. The
padding is where the frame is covered with multiple fabrics, giving each
Chester’s piece its unique shape and contour. Finally, the upholstery ensures
that the sofa is covered with the finest leathers.
